    As of 24th May 2020- 5,204,508 people have been affected by COVID-19 worldwide. About 337,687 lives have been lost. (Source: WHO)

    SAARC region comprises of over 21% of the world's population which remains vulnerable towards COVID-19. The Member States have reported 242,528 cases, a total of 5,902 deaths in the region, and 84,069 recovered cases.

    Indo- Sri Lanka leaders agree to strengthen bilateral relations amidst COVID-19. The President of Sri Lanka requested Government of India for provision of USD 1.1 billion special SWAP facility to top up USD 400 million under SAARC Facility, which would enormously help Sri Lanka in dealing with foreign exchange issues. Indian Prime Minister assured that he is personally committed to help Sri Lanka. The two leaders agreed to continue with the ongoing bilateral projects that brings direct benefits to people and prioritize food and health securities. (Source:
